Tributes have poured in for a beloved Edinburgh mum who was ‘loved by everyone she knew’.
May Bridget Murray, 87, from Craigmillar, sadly passed away on October 9 in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Karen and Lynn, two son-in-law’s, grandchildren and her great-grandchild with her passing coming as a huge shock to her family.
Tributes have flooded in online with friends and family members sharing heartfelt messages, with her daughters describing her as a “selfless person who loved life.”
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Karen, 58, said: “My mum was full of life and very caring – she was such a hard worker.
“She worked as a dinner lady at Castlebrae High School and she treated everyone the same. She gave us good values and equality. We had to treat people with respect and she just loved everybody, she was so fun.
“She had a heart of gold and would give you her last penny.”
May was married to her late husband, James, for 49 years before he sadly passed in 2007.
The family were told May’s passing was due to falling into cardiac arrest. Lynn had been with her in the hospital until around 11pm before receiving a call at 1.03am that she had died.
Lynn, 66, added: “I stayed with her for some time and we soon got the call she had passed. We are coping as a family but we are really trying to celebrate her life.”

Karen continued: “She was just so well known and knew everybody. She was always game for a laugh and had so much energy.
“She was an active member of the Jewel Miners Club on Duddingston Road. She also loved her church – St Catherine’s.
“The biggest focus for my mum was her family and we are devastated as there is now a huge void in our life.”
Funeral arrangements are yet to be confirmed.
