Louisville Cyclery to celebrate 45 years in business with festive and bike centered events in September – Yellow Scene Magazine

Press releases are provided to Yellow Scene Magazine. In an effort to keep our community informed, we publish some press releases in whole.

Win prizes while enjoying a short ride on Wednesday evening, September 3rd, as we kick off the birthday celebration with a scavenger hunt through Louisville. This will be followed up on Wednesday, September 17th as Louisville Cyclery hosts the September Louisville Chamber Networking Event. Finally, the Big Blowout Bash will be on Sunday, September 28 from 11:00 AM -2:00 PM in the parking lot with demos, reps from numerous bike companies, BBQ and fun!

Opened in November of 1980 by former CAT 1 racer Scott Adlfinger and Dave McDaniel in the depot building on East South Boulder Road, Louisville Cyclery has served a need in Louisville and the surrounding communities by providing bikes of all disciplines, accessories, service, and sponsorships of community teams and events.

Louisville Cyclery provided many “firsts” in the community. They were the first to do professional bike fittings, the first to host triathlons and they were the first to host biathlons in the Boulder area – The Louisville Biathlon was ranked number one in the country by competitors!

Louisville Cyclery has always had an affinity toward road bikes and forward thinking. When the mountain bike craze took over in the late ’80s/early ’90s, Louisville Cyclery carried both mountain bikes and was one of the few shops in the front range where you could still purchase a road bike. Today, they have invested in gravel and electric bikes as well as scooters, skateboards, snowshoes, and paddle boards to fulfill that growing need in the community.

Current owner, Greg Jones, has a lifetime of cycling from BMX racing and freestyle, trials riding, mountain bike racing, and road racing. Greg was the kid who hung out at the local bike shop until they hired him and never looked back. When given the opportunity to continue Louisville Cyclery’s legacy, Greg was all in.

With the new location across the street at 889 E South Boulder Road, Louisville Cyclery has credited its 45 years in business to being a family-owned and community-oriented shop with customer service at its forefront. The bike shop’s ownership and employees pride themselves in being thorough and professional when working with customers to find the correct bike for the customer and not overselling. The service staff has over 100 combined years in the business and is constantly educating themselves on new bikes and the nuances of maintaining them.

Louisville Cyclery is grateful to the community of Louisville and beyond for supporting small businesses and allowing us to be part of the community for 45 years and counting!

ADDITIONAL NOTES ABOUT LOUISVILLE CYCLERY

Numerous star, national and world champions have come out of Louisville Cyclery as both employees and sponsored riders.

Scott’s background: Part of the core group that organized the Red Zinger following the Aspen Alpine. The Red Zinger eventually became the Coors Classic. Scott raced in all 3 races.

Scott still works at the store part time. His favorite part of owning the store was the relationships built over the years with customers, employees and teams. A few marriages came out of those relationships!

Shop dogs: Always had yellow labs hanging around the shop since the early ’80s

Doogle Tucker, Bean, Scout – not a yellow lab but just as loved

New Shop: Quirky spot with lots of little rooms. It used to be a Vet’s office. Much bike history hangs on the walls from old bikes to posters from famous races and pictures signed by racers in the industry.
