FRISCO — Dak Prescott is off to a fast start in the 2025 season. He’s got 16 touchdown passes with just three interceptions in seven games. He leads the NFL in completions (185), and the offense is tops in total yards (2,734) and second in yards per play (6.1) in the NFL.
Here comes Denver.
Sunday’s opponent for the Cowboys’ quarterback has been a nightmare for him. In two career games, he’s 0-2 with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Prescott has a 70.9 quarterback rating.
He lost to the Broncos in 2017, his second season, 42-17 in a game that is remembered for former running back Ezekiel Elliott’s lack of hustle on chasing down a defender who picked off a Prescott pass.

In 2021, the Cowboys lost with Prescott as the starter, 30-16, at AT&T Stadium.
“That one was probably one of the uglier games of my career for sure,” Prescott said of the 2017 game. “Yeah, I remember the big rain delay or lightning delay early in the game. I remember Von Miller, Aqib Talib, Chris Harris. They had some guys. Yeah, definitely remember that one.”

The Cowboys have lost the last seven meetings to the Broncos. The last time Dallas won in Denver was 1992.
Denver is in the middle of a league-high four-game win streak as Prescott and the Cowboys come visiting.
So much has changed with Prescott since those first two meetings. He’s now in his 10th season as a starter, he finished second in the MVP voting in 2023 and is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

You could say his game has evolved so much.

“Every which way,” Prescott said. “I think that was my second season. I hadn’t even had personalized [QB] training yet. I came in as a rookie and played so well, I was telling my coaches — no knock to any of my coaches — but I almost didn’t get coached in the details of the position because I started off so hot. ‘Don’t mess with him, don’t ruin it.’ Year 2 was tough, and that’s probably why it was a down year for me. I’m a guy who wants to get pushed, who wants to get coached hard. Didn’t have a lot of growth from Year 1 to Year 2, which is also on myself having the whole offseason. I can’t even begin. Every part of my game has evolved and changed and gotten better since that.”
