It is a wet night ahead for Dublin and Ireland – as five counties have been placed under a Status Yellow rain warning.
Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and Galway have been placed under the alert, which is set to kick in at 6pm tonight and last until 3am tomorrow morning. Heavy spells of blustery rain will hit these five counties, with difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility, and localised flooding possible.
Dublin is also at risk of spot flooding tonight, according to Met Eireann – but citizens of the capital waking up this morning will do so to a dry and bright welcome. Isolated showers will break out as the morning goes on, but cloud will build before the rain arrives in the evening.
Temperatures will hit highs of 17C in light to moderate westerly winds, backing southerly winds later in the afternoon. Tonight will see heavy outbreaks of rain, with spot flooding a risk, though this should clear off by Wednesday morning.
Temperatures will hit lows of 10C, with fresh and gusty southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly, and strong near coasts. And here is what the rest of the Met Eireann forecast is saying for the rest of the week:
Wednesday: Largely dry but cloudy tomorrow morning with isolated showers and just limited sunny spells. Better sunny spells will develop during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18 or 19 degrees with fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, easing later.
Wednesday night: Showery outbreaks of rain will push up from the south, mainly affecting Munster and Leinster with some heavy falls possible. Staying largely dry in Ulster and Connacht with the longest clear spells in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees in mostly light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at first in the north and west and strengthening near southern coasts by morning.
Thursday: Further showery outbreaks of rain likely in the south and east though with dry intervals at times. Drier and sunnier in the north and west with a few showers. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees generally with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresher near southern and northwestern coasts.
Thursday night: Dry for most with isolated showers. However, showery outbreaks of rain may continue to affect southern and southeastern coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.
Friday: A mix of cloud and some sunny spells along with isolated showers for most. The best of the sunny spells will be in the north. Mostly cloudy though in southeastern areas with a continued chance of showery outbreaks of rain. Highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees in mostly light breezes.
Saturday: A good deal of uncertainty in the details at present. Most likely there will be a fair amount of dry weather with just some showers. However, there is a chance of a low pressure system moving northwards over the country bringing some heavy falls of rain.
