The current rivalry between Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn and Zuffa’s Dana White has gotten even more intriguing.
Zuffa Boxing made a big splash by signing Conor Benn to one-fight deal worth $15 million. Benn had been a fighter under Hearn for a decade before Zuffa Boxing made the move. Hearn has made it clear in interviews that he’s disappointed that Benn would sign on with someone he’s in a war of words with.
Well, Hearn has decided to fight back in one unique way. The Matchroom head honcho announced on Instagram that his agency now represents Aspinall, who is the reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion.
“Welcome to the team UFC Heavyweight Champ @tomaspinallofficial,” Hearn wrote. “Time to get what’s yours @matchroomtalentagency.”
It’s the latest jab in the ongoing beef between Hearn and White. Recently, the UFC boss hurled insults at Hearn for getting emotional over Benn’s exit from Matchroom. Hearn fired back during an interview with iFL TV, accusing White of not caring about his own fighters.
“I hear people’s comments like Dana White [saying] ‘Eddie Hearn is a p — ,’ Terence Crawford [saying,] ‘Do you think Eddie Hearn actually cares about these guys?'” Hearn said of White.
“I’m not saying I’m different but we’re very different to Dana White and those guys. They don’t give a f — about the fighters.
“Have you ever seen — and I know he’s got to be impartial — but have you ever seen Dana White show any emotion when someone wins?” Hearn continued. “He gets in, gives the belt, comes back, does his presser and f — off to his massive gaff with a cigar and whiskey and goes f — — ‘life is sweet, we just made $800 million this year.'” (h/t MMA Fighting)
