Monster movies have made quite the comeback in recent years, thanks to the arrival of titles like Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Abigail and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, while soon audiences will be invited to go into the crypt and beyond the grave thanks to Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. Sadly, somewhere lost in the mix between monsters and myths, cryptids are being overlooked. Those of us in the cryptid community could certainly use more movies like Mark Pellington’s The Mothman Prophecies to bring our favorite creatures to the big screen. Thankfully, on April 10, Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta will be doing just that with their feature-length directorial debut, The Yeti. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’ve got a new image from the heart-stopping thriller that sees the cryptid step out of lore and into your nightmares.
Featuring leading performances from Brittany Allen (The Pitt), Eric Nelsen (1883), William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption), and Corbin Bernsen (Psych), The Yeti pulls audiences back to 1947 and follows an oil tycoon (Bernsen) and an explorer (Sadler) who go deep into the barrens of northern Alaska and vanish without a trace. Back home, a search party is assembled to track down the men and return them to safety, but the group soon finds out that polar bears aren’t the only thing lurking in the snowy darkness. Filling out the rest of the film’s primary ensemble is a lineup that includes Gallerano, Heather Lind (Your Friends & Neighbors), Linc Hand (NCIS: Hawaii), Christina Bennett Lind (All My Children), Jim Cummings (The Beta Test), Elizabeth Cappuccino (The First Lady), and Jonathan Brownlee (Satanic Panic).

Something terrifying is creeping in the night in our exclusive image from The Yeti, which also shows off how the filmmakers will use light to build tension in their film. In the shot, we see a woman lying under a spring bed, cowering in terror, while an out-of-frame creature reaches its giant hairy hand and long fingernails until it hangs just over the woman’s face. We may not know what happens next, but things certainly aren’t looking great for the search party member.
The Yeti is the latest title to hail from Well Go USA Entertainment, with the studio also preparing to release Emma Higgins’ thriller, Sweetness; Hubert Davis’ sports drama, Youngblood; and Tak Se-woong’s horror flick, Ghost Train — just to name a few.
