Max Porter’s under-21s take on Ipswich Town at Mangata Developments Stadium on Friday, February 27. Kick-off in north London is scheduled for 7pm (UK).
Our young Gunners come into the fixture in strong form, having won four of their last five matches, scoring ten goals and conceding just once in that time.
Last time out, we cruised to a 4-1 win over Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, with Evan Mooney scoring an astonishing goal from just inside the Royals’ half to get the scoring started.
Ipswich were awarded Category One status over the summer, and joined the Premier League 2 for the first time this season. The Tractor Boys have wasted no time in hitting the ground running, recording 31 points in their first 15 games to sit third in the league table.
While Town have won their last three league games, they come into Friday’s contest off the back of a 3-2 Premier League Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers, which ended their run in the competition at the last 16 stage. Ipswich’s matches have been full of goals this season; with 37 scored and 34 conceded, the 71 goals in their matches is a league high.
Friday’s opponents have effectively spread their goals around the team too, with five different players scoring at least five times this campaign, including top scorers Tudor Mendel-Idowu and James Mauge, who have found the net seven times each.
You can watch the game live on Arsenal.com and the official app, with coverage starting from 6.55pm (UK) on Friday evening. Live updates will also be provided throughout the evening on our academy’s official X account.
After the final whistle, be sure to catch exclusive interviews with under-21s head coach Max Porter and one of our young Gunners, plus highlights of all the key action from Meadow Park.
