AS movie fans continue to watch a recently released murder mystery film, you may be surprised to learn some of its cast have links to Essex.
The Thursday Murder Club was released on Netflix last month and is full of well-known actors such as Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Dame Helen Mirren.
The film, which is based on a book by TV presenter and author Richard Osman, follows a group of elderly sleuths passionate about solving cold cases who end up investigating a modern-day murder case.
Here are three cast members who you may not realise have ties to Essex.
Dame Helen Mirren
Dame Helen plays Elizabeth, a retired MI6 agent in the film.
She grew up in south Essex and went to Hamlet Court Primary School in Westcliff.
The A-lister then went to St Bernard’s High School for Girls in Southend.
The actor, writer, musician and freelance drama mentor to youngsters in Essex and Suffolk has worked in showbiz since his teenage years.
He spent his youth in Buckhurst Hill before taking the TV and theatre screens by storm.
