Tether’s chief, Paolo Ardoino, has stated that the company could become the largest Bitcoin miner by the end of 2025. He made this announcement on The Block podcast.
According to him, the firm’s goal is not commercial profit but the protection of its assets. The company owns more than 100,000 BTC and aims to participate in securing the network to safeguard these investments.
“If you have a million dollars, it is more profitable to simply buy Bitcoin rather than invest in mining. But in our case, given the volume of our investments, it is important to be part of the network’s security system,” he explained.
Tether is actively diversifying its business: engaging in Bitcoin mining, investing in crypto projects, including ventures with treasuries in digital gold.
Ardoino noted that mining is part of a larger concept of “stable energy.” Tether considers it one of the four key elements for long-term sustainability, alongside “stable money, communications, and intelligence.”
