At least 10 people have died after a train ploughed through a double-decker bus that had stopped on a level crossing. A further 55 people were injured in the horror, which saw the bus cut in half.
Shocking photos show each half of the bus either side of the freight train and its roof had been ripped off in the horror crash, which happened on Monday morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in an industrial area of warehouses and factories in the town of Atlacomulco in Mexico, about 80 miles (130km) northwest of Mexico City. The cause of the crash has not yet been established, authorities said.
CCTV footage showed the bus inching forward through bumper-to-bumper traffic, but moment it started crossing the tracks, the train rammed into its passenger side, pushing the front half down the tracks.
The state of Mexico’s civil defense agency said on X that authorities were still working at the site of the accident, and the state prosecutor’s office said it had opened an investigation.
Authorities said 10 people were killed and 55 were injured. Local media reports said the injured were taken to hospitals throughout the state.
