Parts of Ireland will be battered by strong winds and heavy rain tomorrow as Storm Floris hits overnight.
Met Eireann has issued a series of Status Yellow wind and rain warnings for counties in the north and west of the country. A w ind warning has been issued for Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo with possible impacts including d angerous travelling conditions, structural damage, fallen trees, debris and loose objects, power outages and wave overtopping.
A r ain warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo with possible impacts including d ifficult travelling conditions, lightning damage and localised flooding. Donegal and Leitrim have also been hit with a wind warning, along with Galway Mayo and Sligo.
The warning come into effect between 2am and 4am on Monday morning and will remain in place until between 10am and 4pm the same day. A Status Orange marine warning has also been issued from Bloody Foreland to Malin Head to Fair Head where winds may reach storm force 10 at times. Dublin looks to be avoiding the worst of the storm although Monday will start off wet and windy in the capital. That rain will clear eastwards in the afternoon and will be followed by sunny spells with highs of 17 to 19C.
The national forecast for the rest of the week warns of an “unsettled” outlook although there will be plenty of sunny spells. Here’s what’s in store in the coming days:
Tuesday
“Tuesday morning will start off with good bright spells for most with scattered showers, though cloud will increase early on for a time before breaking up again by the early afternoon. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees with moderate to fresh northwest winds.”
Wednesday
“Starting off dry with spells of hazy sunshine and isolated showers developing in the early afternoon. Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees.”
Thursday
“Cloud from the west will spread across the country with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, clearing to scattered showers later.”
Further outlook
“Staying generally unsettled for the remaining of the week with spells of rain.”
