This article highlights the remarkable contributions of nearly one thousand individuals who have been recognized for their lifetime of dedication and service to their communities across Australia. It showcases the diverse backgrounds and inspiring stories of those who have worked to foster belonging, acceptance, and social cohesion. From community advocates and healthcare professionals to business leaders and social policy champions, these individuals have made a lasting impact.

Nearly one-thousand individuals have been honored for their unwavering dedication and lifelong service across various fields, a testament to the diverse contributions shaping the fabric of society. These honorees, often described as quiet achievers, have tirelessly given back to their communities, fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance, and social cohesion .

Their recognition, a culmination of nominations from friends, colleagues, and community members, highlights the profound impact of their selfless efforts.Among the distinguished individuals celebrated is Satwant Singh Calais, whose journey began in 1970 when he fled the devastating race riots in Malaysia at the tender age of 16. Arriving in Hobart alone, he faced the daunting task of navigating a new life, separated from his family who remained in Southeast Asia. Undeterred by the challenges, Mr. Calais channeled his experiences into action, founding Sikh Youth Australia while attending university. This volunteer-run organization, now in its 26th year, delivers programs and events across the country, empowering youth to embrace their heritage while adapting to life in Australia. His work, driven by a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude, has earned him a Medal of the Order of Australia. He emphasizes the importance of giving back to a country that offers so much, advocating for social cohesion and the well-being of all Australians.Another inspiring story is that of Mr. Le, who arrived in Australia from Vietnam in 1982 after spending two years in a refugee camp. He went on to establish the Hollywood Nails Group, a network of nail salons across Victoria, which provides training and employment opportunities, offering stability and dignity to migrants and refugees. Mr. Le’s commitment extends beyond business, encompassing philanthropic endeavors that support hospitals, aged-care homes, and multicultural organizations. He is also actively involved in developing the country’s first Vietnamese Museum, aiming to preserve the stories of refugees and celebrate the rich diversity of the community. Then there’s Dr. Felix Ho, born in Hong Kong, he dedicates his life to providing healthcare to remote communities, he offers service to those in need. Furthermore, Dr. Judy Tang, a Melbourne neuropsychologist, dedicates her efforts to improving mental health services for multicultural and LGBTIQ+ communities, advocating for inclusivity and ensuring services reflect the diverse identities they support. The recognition also pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Eddie Whitham, who dedicated decades to supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in integrating into their new communities. Tanya Hosch, a trailblazer in the AFL and a champion for social policy, is recognized for her dedication to diversity and inclusion. These individuals, and many others, represent the heart of Australia’s commitment to service and community, each contributing to a more inclusive and compassionate nation
