The Lagos chapter of the APC has confirmed that South West states will continue to back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
The statement was issued in response to claims from supporters of opposition candidate Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim that the region might not endorse Tinubu again.
APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo described these claims as baseless, noting that Tinubu has established a robust political network with significant national influence.
He added that opposition figures lack the grassroots organization needed to mount a credible challenge.
According to Oladejo, Tinubu’s government has delivered visible progress in infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and fiscal management, giving voters a clear reason to support continuity.
Oladejo labeled Olawepo-Hashim a “perennial aspirant” whose political influence is minimal. He argued that endorsements from small rallies or press statements cannot translate into meaningful voter support.
The spokesman further criticized the PDP for being internally fragmented and overly reliant on nostalgia rather than effective governance.
He insisted that even if Olawepo-Hashim became the PDP’s candidate, the party’s lack of resources and organization would hinder any serious challenge.
He emphasized that opposition rhetoric cannot compete with the tangible achievements of the Tinubu administration, which he described as grounded in strategic, long-term planning.
Highlighting the administration’s accomplishments, Oladejo said attempts to distort Tinubu’s record are misleading.
He emphasized that the government is committed to building sustainable progress, contrasting this with the opposition’s “selective statistics and recycled narratives.”
He urged citizens not to be swayed by superficial political theatrics, reminding them that leadership is measured by results, not press releases or statements.
Oladejo insisted that South West voters will support a proven leader in 2027, rejecting candidates whose ambitions are more about spectacle than substance.
