2027: South-West will stand by Tinubu – Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that the Southwest region will continue to stand firmly behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, in response to comments attributed to supporters of a PDP presidential aspirant, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, who claimed that the Southwest would not re-elect Tinubu.

Oladejo dismissed the remarks, saying Olawepo-Hashim lacked the political structure and electoral capacity to mount any serious national challenge.

He asserted that President Tinubu would decisively defeat any coalition of forces attempting to block his re-election bid.

“Olawepo-Hashim is a perennial aspirant and a convenient mascot for opposition desperation,” Oladejo said.

He mocked the aspirant’s purported endorsements, describing them as “photocopied letterhead endorsements from tiny rallies and press statements that do not translate to votes.”

“In the unlikely event that he somehow emerges as the presidential candidate of the free-falling PDP, a party evidently bankrupt of both human and material resources, he will be roundly beaten at the polls,” Oladejo stated.

He criticised Olawepo-Hashim’s remarks on the Tinubu administration as “particularly distasteful and unacceptable,” stressing that the current government is laying a solid and irreversible foundation across infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and fiscal reforms.

“Those who traffic in selective statistics and currency rhetoric do so because they cannot defend the alternative, a return to the waste, arrogance, and economic mismanagement that nearly extinguished our nation’s potential,” Oladejo added.

He maintained that Nigerians would not be deceived into abandoning ongoing reforms for “recycled excuses” from the opposition.

“To the political jobbers behind this noise: stop insulting the intelligence of Lagos residents and Nigerians,” he said, adding that issuing press releases is not equivalent to governing effectively.

Oladejo insisted that in 2027, voters would opt for continuity under a president who has provided direction and tangible results, rather than “the empty spectacle of political tourists.”

“The Southwest will not abandon its own for a project of theatrical ambition without substance,” he added.
