November 18, 2025 15:56Stock market live updates: Abhinav Tiwari, Research Analyst at Bonanza
Today, the Indian stock markets ended on a negative note on November 18, 2025, snapping a six-session winning streak as both the Sensex and Nifty closed lower. The Nifty closed at 25,910 mark, and the Sensex settled at 84,673 with a drop of around 278 points, pressured mainly by metals and financials, with majors like Tech Mahindra and Bajaj Finance among the top laggards. The primary reason for the decline was the weak global cues; major Asian indices followed Wall Street lower after the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq ended sharply down the previous night.
India’s merchandise trade deficit for October widened to a record high of USD 41.68 billion driven by a surge in gold imports and a sharp contraction in outbound shipments, underscoring concerns around the country’s external finances. Uncertainty in global equity markets was also driven by U.S. jobs data and Nvidia’s earnings.
Looking ahead, markets could remain volatile as global headwinds and macroeconomic uncertainties persist. Investors will keenly watch upcoming global economic releases and cues from the ongoing trade discussions between India and the US for direction. In the near term, the record trade deficit and the ongoing profit-booking may keep indices under check, although solid domestic buying and previous momentum could limit further downside if global cues improve.

November 18, 2025 13:15Stock Market Live: Quote from Renisha Chainani, head of research at Augmont
Gold and silver experience steep selloffs, as investors wait for hints on the Federal Reserve’s policy course from a succession of US economic data releases this week, marking the fourth straight session of losses amid waning hopes for a US interest rate cut.
· A rate cut in December has become less likely due to the absence of US data over the last six weeks and hawkish comments made by a number of Fed officials.
· Thursday’s September Nonfarm payroll data will be eagerly watched by traders for clues about the state of the US economy, and the Fed’s most recent meeting minutes will be released on Wednesday to offer more rate direction. The market’s implied probability of a 25 basis point rate cut in December has dropped from nearly 60% earlier this month to 43% now.
· However, structural tailwinds such as geopolitical unpredictability, worries about the sustainability of US debt, de-dollarisation trends, and central bank purchases are anticipated to sustain investment demand for gold and silver throughout the medium and long term.
Technical Triggers
· Gold has broken an important support of $4050; the next target support is $3950 (~Rs 120,000).
· Silver has broken the important support of $50, the next target support level is around $48.5(~Rs 150,000) and $47(~Rs 145,000).

November 18, 2025 13:00Stock market live: Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Quote : “Bitcoin extended its decline to fresh six-month lows near $91,000 to erase all 2025 gains. Selling pressure deepened across derivatives and exchange-traded products. The pullback triggered over $815 million in liquidations and marked the third consecutive week of ETF outflows totalling $2 billion. This is the steepest since February. Positioning data shows traders continuing to reduce leverage while futures open interest compresses around $90,000-$92,000. Despite heavy losses, on-chain indicators such as realized losses and short-term holder capitulation suggest the market may be entering a late-stage correction phase rather than a structural bear reversal.
The macro backdrop remains the dominant drag. Strong U.S. manufacturing data and fading expectations of a December Fed rate cut have tightened financial conditions. This has pushed risk assets lower even as the US government re-opens. Inflows into short-bitcoin products and multi-asset ETPs show that institutional investors are hedging exposure rather than exiting entirely. This is indicative of traders exercising caution amid low liquidity and conflicting policy signals.
Altcoins tracked the broader decline. Ethereum slipped below $3K, Solana lost over 20% on the week, and XRP fell 16%. Total crypto market capitalisation dropped nearly 6% week-on-week. Still, exchange reserves for ETH and SOL continue to decline, hinting at accumulation by long-term participants. With sentiment at “extreme fear” and positioning heavily reset, the next few sessions will hinge on whether fresh capital steps in at key support levels.
Our advice: Read this as a late-stage correction, not a broken structure. Let the $92k-$90k band be your first defence. It is where futures open interest is compressing and where the market must prove buy-side intent after the $91k low. Add only if spot leads perps and we see a clean hold/reclaim above $92k. If the band gives way on rising spot selling, step aside and wait for the next demand cluster rather than averaging down. Keep risk in BTC/ETH. For alts, treat exposure as short-duration until breadth improves. Declining ETH/SOL exchange reserves are constructive, but confirmation is this: flows first, price second.”

November 18, 2025 08:03Stock Market Live Updates: Stock markets set for flat open as investors await key US data
India’s equity benchmarks are set to open largely unchanged on Tuesday, after six consecutive sessions of gains, as investors turn cautious ahead of key U.S. economic releases that could clarify whether the Federal Reserve may cut rates next month.
The Nifty and Sensex each climbed roughly 2% over the past six sessions, supported by a steady earnings season with no major disappointments, strong domestic inflows, and the resolution of the U.S. government shutdown.
Both indexes now sit about 1% below their record highs reached in September 2024.
Analysts say overall sentiment remains positive, but markets may take a breather in the near term amid global uncertainty and diminishing hopes for a U.S. rate cut.
The odds of a 25-basis-point rate cut by the Fed on December 10 have dropped to 42.9% from 62.4% last week, according to CME FedWatch.
Higher U.S. rates make investments in emerging markets such as India less attractive for overseas investors.
Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DII) remained net buyers of Indian shares for the 14th session on Monday, with inflows of 14.66 billion rupees. Foreign institutional investors snapped a five-session selling streak, purchasing 4.42 billion rupees of stocks, according to NSE’s provisional data.

November 18, 2025 06:37Stock Market Live Updates: Rating agency ICRA has projected the year-on-year (YoY) GDP expansion to ease to 7.0% in Q2 FY2026 from 7.8% in Q1 FY2026
Further, it projects the growth in the gross value added (GVA) to record a narrower dip to 7.1% from 7.6%, respectively. Lower expansion in the services sector (to +7.4% in Q2 FY2026 from +9.3% in Q1 FY2026), and
agriculture (to +3.5% from +3.7%), is likely to outweigh a pick-up in the performance of the industrial sector (to a five-quarter high +7.8% from +6.3%).
