Supporters of President Trump are also out Saturday as the No Kings protest takes place.
Several hundred people gathered in Tehachapi on Saturday for its version of the No Kings protests taking place across the country, and about 40 counter-protesters were there as well.
Organizers have sent press releases summarizing their points: “In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies.
“We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, terrorized communities, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies.”
Organizers called on people to uphold the principles of peaceful protest.
