According to Insider Gaming, the next mainline entry in the Ghost Recon franchise is set to enter its internal Alpha phase later this year.
The next Ghost Recon is supposedly codenamed Ovr, and sources have stated that the game is set to arrive at some point in 2026. Furthermore, the process of going from internal Alpha to final release could take as long as 12 months, which puts the game out around Fall 2026 — nothing is official at this point, however.
A previous report from the same site in March 2024 claimed that the next major Ghost Recon title would adopt a military simulation template, featuring a first-person perspective and revoke around the fictional Naiman conflict. Insider Gaming also added that it was sent footage of the project, and it says it is ‘somewhat similar to the Modern Warfare series or something akin to the tactical shooter Ready or Not.’

No details on an official reveal are available, but the report states that sources believe Ubisoft will keep details close its chest for a while before ‘returning next year with a massive Ubisoft Forward event.’
The last major entry in the series, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, launched in 2019 and was met with mixed reviews. It didn’t help that Ubisoft later added NFTs to Breakpoint prior to its closure in April 2022, with the game ultimately failing to meet sales expectations and is viewed as something major disappointment in the franchise.
Beyond that, Ubisoft was working on a free-to-play entry in the series, Ghost Recon Frontlines, although the game was ultimately cancelled back in July 2022 alongside a number of other projects.
