OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska State Patrol has added a new K-9 to the force that specializes in finding electronics.
Scooter is trained in electronics storage detection, as they can sniff out a common chemical found in electronics like computers, hard drives, flash drives, SD cards, cell phones, and more.
“Scooter will be an incredible asset for our Technical Crimes Unit,” said Col. Bryan Waugh of the NSP, about the 2-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever.
Dogs like Scooter are also trained as therapy dogs and can help comfort a child alongside the Child Advocacy Center as investigators do interviews.
Scooter will also be an ambassador for internet safety – and will visit schools or other events to help teach kids about online safety.
