The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has launched a free online course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medical Education. The course is part of the government’s Viksit Arogya Bharat programme. It aims to help doctors and medical teachers understand how AI is being used in medical education and healthcare. The programme is fully online and does not charge any fee. Doctors do not need any technical or coding background to join the course.The course is expected to begin in January 2026. The detailed schedule of classes will be shared on the official NBEMS course portal.The course is officially called Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education. It explains the basics of AI in a simple way and shows how it can be used in teaching, learning, and clinical work. The focus is on understanding AI tools, not on replacing doctors. The course is designed to help medical professionals use AI carefully, safely, and responsibly.The course is offered by NBEMS, which works under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. NBEMS is the body that conducts major medical exams such as NEET PG, NEET SS, FMGE, and DNB. Through this course, NBEMS aims to prepare doctors for the growing role of technology in healthcare.The course will run for around six months. It will include about 20 live online modules. The sessions will be spread out over time so that doctors and teachers can attend along with their regular work.
