In a landmark event, 51 Naxalites have surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, signaling a significant step toward peace. Among the defectors were 20 high-profile Naxalites carrying a collective bounty of Rs 66 lakh. The move underscores the effectiveness of the state’s rehabilitation efforts and development initiatives aimed at ending violence.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lauded the development, attributing this shift to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The initiative, ‘Poona Margham – Punarwas se Punarjeevan,’ has drawn numerous Naxalites towards peace, marking progress in the government’s campaign to eradicate Naxalism.
The surrender is part of a larger trend, with many Maoists returning to mainstream life, driven by government policies that encourage dialogue and societal integration. This continues to weaken the Naxalite presence, marking a turning point in the pursuit of a Naxal-free India, as envisioned by national leadership.
