DOST Region 2 conducts two-day monitoring of Setup beneficiaries in Cagayan
IN line with the government’s continuing efforts to promote environmental protection and sustainable practices, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has issued a directive prohibiting the use of single-use plastics within its office premises.
The memorandum, signed by Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer (VCEO) Commissioner Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan on Aug. 28, 2025, enjoins all officials and employees in the central and regional offices to minimize, and if possible, completely avoid the use of single-use plastics, particularly during office-organized activities such as meetings, trainings, workshops, conferences, and other official functions.
Prohibited items include plastic straws, stirrers, and utensils; disposable cups, plates, and food containers; single-use water bottles; and plastic bags or overpackaged products.
As an alternative, employees are encouraged to use refillable water containers and tumblers, reusable utensils and food containers, cloth or reusable eco-bags, and biodegradable or compostable materials when necessary.
Calinisan stressed that the policy reflects Napolcom’s commitment to sustainability.

“This policy is not just about banning plastics, it is about cultivating a culture of responsibility and sustainability within our workplace. Each small step we take contributes to a greener and more accountable Napolcom. Let us work together in making Napolcom a model of environmental stewardship in government service.”
He also highlighted the Commission’s alignment with global and local initiatives, saying: “In this regard, we acknowledge and abide by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which remind us that protecting the environment is integral to lasting peace and security. We likewise recognize the initial gains achieved by ordinances of local government units, particularly Quezon City under the leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte, in championing environmental protection.”

All offices and services within Napolcom have been advised to review their practices and take appropriate measures to ensure compliance with the memorandum.
