HOWRAH: A businessman’s body was discovered in a bloodied and crushed state at the courtyard of the Hanuman and Kali temple, triggering unrest in the Salap area of Domjur, Howrah, on Friday night. Initial investigations by Howrah city police indicate that the 35-year-old deceased, Kalu Maji, was murdered, but the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown. Authorities have commenced their investigation and are awaiting the autopsy report.Kalu Maji, a resident of the Salap area in Domjur, lived alone and owned a shop. He previously worked as a mechanic in various factories and occasionally stayed overnight at the local temple. Early Friday morning, locals found him lying in the courtyard of the Hanuman temple, surrounded by blood.Upon discovering Kalu in a bloodied state, local residents notified the Domjur police. Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and forwarded it for an autopsy. A senior officer from Howrah city police stated that blood was seen oozing from Kalu’s ears and the back of his head when the body was found. The community is distressed over the cause of death, with preliminary police suspicions pointing to murder. It is believed that his head was crushed with a heavy object. Police have yet to identify those responsible and are investigating whether Kalu had any enemies. A sniffer dog was deployed at the scene, and authorities noted the absence of CCTV cameras at the temple. They suspect Kalu was killed while asleep. Forensic experts are expected to collect samples from the site, and police are conducting multiple rounds of interviews with local residents.
