Now in its 18th year, the multi-award-winning scheme is open to students in school years 10 to 13 in England and Wales, and S4 to S6 in Scotland, and gives them the chance to step into the shoes of a real journalist.
During the unique and dynamic eight-month extracurricular programme students write monthly articles, all of which are published on Newsquest’s network of 200 online newspapers across the UK, giving them hands-on experience in journalism.
Participants will be offered the chance to do interviews, attend press events, review local attractions and theatre productions and explore what is happening in their area.

Kathryn Tuck from Townley Grammar School has completed the scheme four times and was one of its two top reporters last year.
She said: “It’s massively improved both my writing style and my overall confidence and I feel very lucky to have had such an amazing opportunity.”
