A motorist had a lucky escape as they managed to avoid injury following a serious collision at a roundabout in Co Cork on Saturday evening.
The incident, which involved a single vehicle, occurred near the Church of Our Lady and Saint John in Carrigaline at around 9.10pm last night
The car ended up on its side on a roundabout in front of a religious grotto. Gardaí and members of the Carrigaline Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene following reports of the collision and offices cordoned off the road as investigations were carried out.
The local fire service also took to social media to urge residents to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the situation. They later confirmed that all occupants of the vehicle were “safe and sound.”
The vehicle was removed from the road later that night and the roundabout has since been reopened, reports Cork Beo.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed in a statement: “Gardaí attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the Cork Road in Carrigaline at approximately 9:10pm this evening, Saturday 17th January 2026. No injuries were reported.”
