
BRISTOL, Tenn. — A mine electrician working in Raleigh County, W.Va., suffered a fatal accident Tuesday.
Eric Bartram, 41, of Chapmanville, W.Va., was working at the Marfork preparation plant when the accident happened, according to a written statement from Alpha Metallurgical Resources.
Bartram had nearly two decades of experience and was a valued member of the Marfork team, according to the statement.
“The entire Alpha organization is deeply saddened by this accident,” Alpha’s chief executive officer Andy Eidson said. “Our hearts are with Eric’s family and loved ones. We are heartbroken to learn of his loss.”
The company is working with federal and state agencies to complete an investigation into the accident and its circumstances, according to the statement.
Marfork Preparation Plant is operated by Marfork Coal Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Alpha Metallurgical Resources.
