Sam O’Lone demonstrated how to prepare holiday appetizers to members of the Aiken Newcomers’ Club.
The Aiken Newcomers’ Club met recently at the home of member Catherine Russell.
The guest speaker was Sam O’Lone, owner and head chef of the Wildemount Restaurant, located on Park Avenue. Co-hosted by Colleen Delahunty, O’Lone demonstrated the preparation of several delicious holiday appetizers. Not only did members learn how to prepare this selection of appetizers, they were able to taste them, too.
Following O’Lone’s appetizer demonstration, members were treated to a lunch of arugula and pear salad, turkey tetrazzini with button mushrooms, and an apple cinnamon crisp topped with French streusel.
Aiken Newcomers’ Club is reaching out to area nonprofit organizations that are seeking support in the form of monetary donations. By investing in local organization, the club can help bring about positive and lasting change and build a stronger community. To be eligible for funds, applicants must be a 501c(3) organization in Aiken County. Grants must support a mission-based project. The Aiken Newcomers’ Club thanks all local organizations for their dedication in serving the Aiken community. The deadline to submit requests is Dec. 3, 2025, notification of selection will be made in February/March 2026, and funds will be awarded in May 2026.
