A bride from this year’s Married At First Sight Australia has shocked fans after revealing the impressive salary she earned last year.
Stephanie Marshall, a Brisbane-based real estate agent paired with groom Tyson Gordon on the reality series, disclosed her earnings during an interview with jobs app GetAhead.
“Last year, I did about $680,000,” she said.
The 32-year-old works at Harcourts Property Centre in Wellington Point and has built a successful career in real estate after starting in the industry as a teenager.
“I literally started as a receptionist at the age of 17 – went into property management, sales advertising, executive assistant sales admin and grew from there,” she said.
According to property records, Marshall helped sell more than two dozen homes over the past year as both a lead and secondary agent, with a median sale price nearing $1 million.
She said the industry rewards hard work and persistence.
“Real estate is one of those jobs where you have the capacity to earn great money if you are willing to put in the work,” she said.
“You’re on that phone, all day, every day. It’s all about relationships.”
Marshall also encouraged newcomers to learn the fundamentals before pursuing commissions.
“Join a team, get an understanding of how a business works, get an understanding of the ground work and laying those foundations.”
Her salary revelation sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising her success while others questioned the size of the income.
“680k well done! That’s more than a medical specialist earns,” one person wrote.
“Ridiculously overpaid, BUT I appreciate her transparency,” another commented.
Others referenced her on-screen relationship with controversial groom Tyson Gordon, who previously drew backlash for listing women he dislikes as those who are “super overweight”, “masculine”, and “frigid”.
“Good on her. She’s clearly smarter and richer than her new husband. And he wonders why he feels intimidated by her…” one viewer wrote.
Another added: “def wouldn’t have time to have 5 kids that Tyson wants her to have on MAFS.”
