Directions Credit Union is accepting applications for its Directions Cares for Classrooms grant program.
The program provides grants of up to $500 to local educators for classroom resources and special projects, according to a community announcement.
The grants can be used for a variety of materials, including books, art supplies, software, calculators and lab materials. Directions Credit Union will donate up to $20,000 for the grants during the 2025-26 school year.
“We created this grant to provide financial support to local educators for the resources they need,” Barry Shaner, president and CEO at Directions Credit Union, said in the announcement. “They play such a vital role in the lives of their students, and they often spend their own money to purchase supplies or materials for their classrooms. Directions Cares for Classrooms is a small way we can say thank you to all the wonderful educators making a difference.”
The Fall 2025 application window is now open. Teachers can apply until Sept. 30. Winners will be announced on Nov. 3. There will also be a winter 2026 application window, which will open in January.
The grant program is open to K-12 educators who work for public, private or charter schools in the Directions Field of Membership. That includes schools in Monroe and Lenawee counties.
To apply for Fall 2025, educators need to complete the online application at directionscu.org/cares-for-classrooms/.
