A Warwickshire man said it is ‘surreal’ to have reached the semi-finals of The Great British Bake Off. Toby Littlewood has consistently impressed the judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
Desserts took centre stage this week as Toby created a Showstopper inspired by his beloved Nanny Mo. Although the 29-year-old admitted it was ‘stressful’, his eye-catching bake earned high praise from Paul Hollywood.
But a few elements, including the jelly, went badly wrong. Paul told Toby that the sponge was ‘hard and dry’ but said the flavours were ‘really good.’

On the Showstopper, Toby said: “I actually had to make the cakes twice because they came out so bad the first time, and that is what led to me rushing the assembly and ruining the top! Shame really, but Nanny Mo is very proud, and that is all that matters.”
Toby said he was thrilled to have reached the semi-finals alongside Jasmine, Aaron, and Tom. Prue told the Warwickshire man that reaching this stage was an ‘incredible achievement.’
Iain Ross, from Belfast, was eliminated, leaving Toby ‘gutted.’ He said the Irishman would be ‘sorely missed.’
Speaking on the GBBO, Toby said: “I have no idea how I keep doing this! I cannot believe I am going to be in the semi-finals.”
He added: “We live to see another week in The Great British Bake Off. What a time to be alive.”
