Brisbane has officially delisted Perth product Deven Robertson as he prepares to finally land at West Coast in the coming months.
Robertson leaves the Lions after 47 games in six seasons after being drafted with pick No.22 in the 2019 draft on the back of captaining WA to the Under-18 Championship title and winning the Larke Medal as the best player.
The 22-year-old will now join the Eagles as either a delisted free agent or rookie, seeking a fresh start after nearly being traded there back in the 2023 season.
“I am very grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity of being in the AFL for the past six years,” Robertson said.
“I am sad to be leaving and will miss the playing group and staff, but it is the right time in my career to look for more AFL opportunities.”
Robertson was the joint winner of Brisbane’s VFL fairest and best this year, having averaged 26 touches in 15 games, while he was restricted to only four games as sub this year, struggling to break into the Lions’ powerhouse midfield.
Lions list boss Dom Ambrogio said they supported Robertson’s decision to part ways with the club to seek more gametime.
“Dev has given his all during his time at the Brisbane Lions, which saw him play some strong football, including being part of our 2023 Grand Final team,” Ambrogio said.
“At VFL level this year he has been one of our best players as a joint winner of the Club’s VFL Best and Fairest.
“Though having only played six AFL games the past two seasons, we supported Dev in his decision to seek further opportunities which he has chosen to do.
“We thank Dev for his contribution to the Brisbane Lions and wish him well for the future.”
Meanwhile, the Lions confirmed The West Australian’s report that they had re-signed fringe Busselton-raised midfielder James Tunstill for a further season.
“Jimmy is someone who has been in strong form in the VFL, which has put him in contention for AFL selection each week now and we have no doubt he will continue to work hard in 2026,” Ambrogio said.
