Netflix has revealed a new, feature-length documentary offering unparalleled access to legendary boxer Tyson Fury.
The forthcoming film pledges to lift the veil on Fury’s ascent to stardom and his remarkable comeback.
Not only will the fighter himself be delivering extensive interviews, but director Lucy Wilcox has also secured access to his close-knit circle of relatives, friends and associates to deliver a revealing portrait of his journey.
A synopsis for the forthcoming documentary vows to chronicle “the intimate and remarkable journey of an extraordinary fighter who, against all expectations, battled through impossible odds to achieve one of the greatest comebacks of all time.
“A disruptor in and out of the ring, the film explores his personal battles, controversies, complex relationships, and transformative moments that have made him a defining force in modern boxing”, reports the Express.
Boasting previously unseen material and candid heart-to-hearts with the champion himself, Fury is being hailed as the “definitive” documentary on one of boxing’s most prominent figures.
The revelation follows hot on the heels of Netflix’s recent confirmation that they’re currently crafting a second series of the pugilist’s reality show, At Home With the Furys.
Netflix are maintaining secrecy around additional particulars about the production, and it currently lacks a launch date.
All3Media’s Optomen are behind the documentary, the identical firm responsible for the reality programme as well as last year’s Becoming Madonna.
Director Wilcox, known for her previous works such as The Undercover Police Scandal: Love & Lies Exposed & Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism, is at the helm of this project.
George Waldrum, who brought us The Twister: Caught in the Storm, is serving as the executive producer, with Nick Hornby and Tina Flintoff stepping in as the film’s creative directors.
Fury is set to face off against heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a highly anticipated match at London’s Wembley Stadium in April next year.
However, after suffering consecutive losses to Usyk, Fury confessed just last month that he feels he’s “too old” to make a comeback in boxing.
In a candid chat with Sky Sports in early August, when quizzed about his return to the ring, he admitted: “Never. Really! Too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing’s a young man’s game.”
The sports star was spotted filming a segment for At Home With the Furys at Doncaster Racecourse, where he watched his racehorse Big Gypsy King compete in the Unison Campaigning For Public Services Handicap over seven furlongs.
At Home With the Furys is available to stream on Netflix. Fury does not yet have a release date.
