WASHINGTON, DC – In a interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes which premiered earlier in November, President Donald Trump said he believed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids conducted throughout the country “haven’t gone far enough,” when pressed by the host on whether he believed the opposite.

President Trump is by no means a stranger to hostile media organizations and ostensibly combative interviews from the likes of said outlets. With the aforementioned context in mind, it wasn’t surprising to see CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell question the president about the ongoing ICE raids during a 60 Minutes interview which aired on November 2nd, with O’ Donnel suggesting said raids have “gone too far.”

“Have some of these raids gone too far,” O’ Donnel asked President Trump, with the framing of said question appearing to be an attempt to bait the president into distancing himself from the immigration enforcement operations which have gained widespread condemnation from progressive politicians and their acolytes. Yet, the response President Trump delivered teemed with a fervor reminiscent of what largely defined the era of his 2016 ascension.

“No. I think they haven’t gone far enough,” President Trump responded to the CBS News anchor, making a point to highlight litigious and judicial roadblocks his administration has faced when adding, “because we’ve been held back by the – by the judges, by the liberal judges that were put in by Biden and by Obama.”

O’ Donnel, seeking clarification from President Trump on the methods of apprehension which have been scrutinized by media pundits and anti-ICE activists, went on to ask, “You’re okay with those tactics?”

Without missing a beat, President Trump responded with, “Yeah, because you have to get the people out. You know, you have to look at the people. Many of them are murderers. Many of them are people that were thrown outta their countries because they were, you know, criminals. Many of them are people from jails and prisons. Many of them are people from frankly mental institutions.”

The president’s steadfast support of his administration’s immigration agenda, while likely seen as an affront by his critics, serves as an assuring commitment to what his supporters voted for in the prior election. While President Trump’s first term in office was marred by incessant legal blockades and a then-willingness to concede to Democrats’ demands on some issues regarding the border, President Trump now appears to be going full-force with his agenda and not making apologies or concessions along the way.
