There was a strong turnout at the Dungloe Wind Turbine Action Group meeting held in the Ionad on Friday night.
The meeting was unanimous in its opposition to siting a wind plant and substation tower in the area.
The meeting heard from members of the Gweebarra and Graffy Conservation Groups.
The groups outlined what they said were the many negatives of planning a wind plant on a peat bog near a large rural population.
These inlcuded the implications for human health, land and property devaluation, wildlife, particularly birds of prey and the potential to pollute aquifers, wells, lakes and coastal waters if a wind plant were built in Cronashallog.
Members of thr public present said they were shocked to learn that the developers describe Dungloe as having no tourist attractions whatsoever and that the nearest tourist attraction to Dungloe is the Bridle Path Trail, 20km away in Glenveagh National Park.
The meeting was also addressed by County Councillors Seamus ÓFearraigh Michael Cholm Macgiollaeasbuig.
Both vowed to continue to support the local people in their opposition to ill-sited wind turbines.
Objections to the Dungloe Wind Farm planning application no. 2561652 must be filed with the County Council by letter or online by October 21st to meet the deadline. All objections must be accompanied by a €20 postal order or ring the Council to pay over the phone.
The group says that anyone who wants to put their name to the Group objection can contact Dungloe Wind Turbine Action Group on Facebook.
