The Golden State Warriors medical staff is preparing 30-year-old Kristaps Porzingis for his return to action

After welcoming his trade to the Golden State Warriors, Porzingis confirmed a plan to return following the NBA All-Star break. Due to the management of a left Achilles tendon injury, the Latvian center was formally ruled out for Wednesday’s meeting with the San Antonio Spurs at Chase Center. However, he is expected to make his Warriors debut in a home game against his former team, the Boston Celtics, next Thursday.
“It was a good workout. I’m building back up slowly because once I start playing, I want to hit the ground running,” he mentioned during his introductory press conference on Sunday.
Having dealt with various injuries throughout his NBA career, Porzingis is determined to remain healthy in Golden State. “I am confident that I will,” he responded when asked about avoiding future stints on the sidelines. “I will do everything right, and I believe I will.”
“From what I’ve seen and the conversations I’ve had so far with the medical staff and the people here, I have to say I’m very optimistic. I’m in really good hands, some of the best, and I think that adds to the confidence I already have. I look forward to a strong post-All-Star break,” he added.
Currently on an expiring contract, the Liepaja native started the 2025-26 regular season with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest.
At 29-25, Steve Kerr’s squad ranks eighth in the Western Conference, 3.5 games behind a direct ticket to the Playoffs and eight games ahead of the elimination zone.
