Justin Tucker Suspended 10 Games by NFL Amid misconduct Claims
Former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has been handed a 10-game suspension by the NFL following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. The suspension, announced Thursday, stems from claims made by more than a dozen massage therapists.
The NFL’s memo stated that the suspension for violating the NFL’s Personal conduct Policy will commence on Aug. 26, the day of roster cutdowns. Tucker will be eligible for reinstatement Nov. 11. Despite the suspension, the league noted that tucker is permitted to try out and sign with a team. If signed during the offseason, he can practice and participate in preseason games.
Tucker, 35, was released by the Ravens on May 5 after 13 seasons. The Baltimore Banner reported the allegations of inappropriate conduct with massage therapists, prompting the NFL investigation. The Justin Tucker NFL suspension casts a shadow over his otherwise stellar career.
Rob Roche, Tucker’s agent, expressed disappointment with the league’s decision. “We are disappointed with the NFL’s decision,” Roche said.
“Justin has always strived to carry himself in a way that would make his family and community proud,” Roche added. “He stands by his previous statements. In order to put this challenging episode behind him and get back on the field as soon as possible,we have advised Justin to accept this resolution and close this matter.”
The NFL’s investigation followed reports that Tucker was accused of sexual misconduct by at least 16 massage therapists between 2012 and 2016. Tucker and his legal team continue to deny these allegations.
“The people who know Justin best know his character and understand that while he remains fully committed to excellence as a football player, he is deeply dedicated to his most important lifetime roles as a father, husband, and friend,” Roche stated.
Tucker addressed the allegations on social media, stating he never acted inappropriately during massage therapy sessions. “I have always made a conscious effort to be considerate and respectful in all of the interactions with the community that I love so much. It is devastating for me to learn that anyone would feel I was offensive in any way,” Tucker said.
The Ravens released Tucker after drafting kicker Tyler Loop from the University of arizona. General Manager Eric DeCosta called it a “football decision.”
