Emmerdale viewers were stunned to learn that Amy Walsh has a very famous sister after the duo recently appeared together at an awards bash.
Amy, 38, who has portrayed Tracy Robinson on the ITV soap opera since 2014, is part of a trio of celebrated sisters who have all featured in well-known television programmes.
Last month, Amy, who is anticipating her second child with former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith, graced the Pride of Britain Awards with her sister Kimberley Walsh.
Kimberley, 43, a vocalist, model and performer, rose to stardom through ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002. She gained widespread recognition as part of the chart-topping band Girls Aloud.
Posting on Instagram, Amy uploaded a gorgeous photograph with Kimberley as they struck poses for photographers on the red carpet at the ceremony held in London on October 20, reports the Daily Star.
She wrote alongside the image: “It’s been one hell of a week that started off on Monday at the most amazing @prideofbritain awards with my big sister and our amazing @encantatalentmgmt team!
“So grateful to get the opportunity to go to these wards and celebrate the amazing bravery and stories of the incredible winners.”
Amy continued: “What a night. Westlife…omg my 16 year old self nearly combust. Gorgeous to bump into some friends too, Thanks so much for having me @prideofbritain it was an honour. Thanks @lisalaudat1 for the incredible hair and hair up.”
The post has triggered a response amongst fans who were oblivious to the fact that Amy and Kimberly are sisters.
Commenting below, one person penned: “Omg didn’t know you and Kimberley are sisters. You can definitely see the resemblance and can easily pass as twins! Looking fab sisters!!”
A second admitted: “I was today years old when I realised you and Kimberley are sisters!” while a third enquired: “Are you twins?” Another commented: “Wow, stunning sisters.”
Amy has been a mainstay on Emmerdale for more than a decade, since her character Tracy was first brought in as a romantic interest for Sam Dingle (James Hooton).
Although her romance with Sam was brief and concluded in betrayal, Tracy found herself adapting to village life, even taking employment with Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick) at the BandB.
Moving forward to 2016, Tracy married David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden), before ultimately falling for her deceased husband, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
Nevertheless, Amy isn’t the sole member of her actual family to have featured on Emmerdale as her elder sister, Sally Walsh, also had a period on the soap, portraying teenager Lyn Hutchinson between 1997 and 2000.
Lyn was recognised for her stormy romances with Roy Glover (Nicky Evans) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), whom she betrayed with Scott Windsor (Ben Freeman).
Upon uncovering Scott’s liaison with his stepsister, Kelly (Adele Silva), Lyn chose to depart the village for good in 2000. Since her time on Emmerdale, Sally has graced a range of shows including Cold Feet, Fat Friends, The Bill, Heartbeat, Coronation Street, Doctors and EastEnders.
