Institutionalising Entrepreneurial Wealth: Lighthouse Canton on Building a Global, Technology-Led Investment Institution for 2026

As UHNW and HNW families across Asia confront rising complexity, concentrated risks and accelerating cross-border ambitions, Lighthouse Canton is positioning itself as an integrated investment institution rather than a traditional wealth platform. In her contribution to the Asian Private Wealth Management Outlook 2026, Group CEO Shilpi Chowdhary explains how the firm is combining institutional infrastructure, proprietary technology, private market access and investment banking capabilities with entrepreneurial speed. She outlines how AI-enabled productivity, family-office-grade governance, selective talent scaling and a disciplined view on global market risks are shaping a differentiated, conflict-free model designed to meet the demands of sophisticated families in an increasingly fragmented wealth landscape.

How are the expectations of UHNW and HNW clients evolving as we enter 2026, and what changes is your organisation making to deliver a more differentiated, personalised and seamless client experience?

UHNW and HNW clients are looking at consolidated solutions with deeper expertise in managing complexity. For business families across Asia, institutionalising wealth through family offices has become a natural progression. Wealth is no longer managed ad hoc but as a complex enterprise requiring long-term planning, customised solutions, and robust governance. Next-generation family members are also increasingly driving the investment agenda, with many actively reconfiguring risk appetite, diversification strategies, and governance frameworks through a global lens. These families want partners who move at the speed of opportunity: accessing private deals, restructuring cross-border holdings, executing hedges ahead of volatility. They expect real-time portfolio visibility and instant execution capability, not quarterly reports.

At Lighthouse Canton, we are building the institutional infrastructure for this; proprietary technology, custody partnerships, private market funds, investment banking capabilities, all structured to move with entrepreneurial speed. Our independence aligns our interests completely with clients, while our presence across Singapore, Dubai, India, and London means we can execute locally, not just coordinate remotely.

How will your organisation leverage AI, data, automation and digital tools in 2026 to enhance advisory capabilities, improve productivity, and scale high-touch private wealth services?

We’ve been early adopters of technology and digital transformation, constantly iterating to improve client experiences. Our digital transformation has always been about combining human judgment with technology to create new possibilities for our clients and our people; building foundations to operate faster, smarter, and more effectively.

We view AI as an enabler that has enhanced our teams’ productivity by reimagining how work gets done, streamlining processes, eliminating inefficiencies, and freeing up capacity for more strategic, client-focused activities. We have begun integrating AI into our workflows across both front and back-office operations. Our investment team leverages AI and automations to expand coverage footprint, accelerate speed-to-market on analysis, and enable rapid portfolio development. This is enabling relationship managers to focus on strategic conversations about family governance and complex structuring — unlocking what industry research suggests is 30-40% more capacity for high-value engagement.

We are also looking to achieve personalization at scale through data orchestration and integrations of systems. Across internal analytics and client communications, we are working on CRM integration and combining it with AI to fully realize the potential it brings in enhancing client relationships and operational efficiency.

Additionally, we are bolstering our operational capabilities. Through partnerships with institutions like BNY Mellon Pershing and Clearstream, we are bringing institutional-grade custody and execution opportunities directly to clients.

What are your priorities for attracting, developing and retaining top relationship managers and leadership talent, and how are you reshaping your operating model to support them in 2026?

Our people strategy is the central engine for our next phase of global expansion. As we prepare for steep growth years ahead, backed by our recent USD 40 million strategic funding from Peak XV Partners, we’re building a talent architecture that can scale faster than the market. Our 30% employee growth in 2024-25 demonstrates this momentum is already underway.

Our employee value proposition centers on two distinct pathways: For senior hires, we offer “entrepreneurship with an institutional safety net” — the autonomy to build practices without the risks of starting alone. This resonates strongly with leaders from global banks seeking independence with infrastructure. For younger talent, we provide global mobility and cross-border career progression, a high-potential analyst in India can realistically build a track to Singapore over time, something domestic firms rarely offer.

Development is becoming systematic: We’re launching structured AI learning paths by 2026, complete with milestones and certifications, embedding AI literacy across the workforce rather than confining it to specialists. We’re also building a one-year rotational development programme to groom high-potential talent into future bankers and portfolio managers — developing talent internally to reduce market dependence.

Our hiring has become deliberately selective, with multi-stage interviews and values alignment filters, ensuring every addition can thrive in our high-accountability, entrepreneurial environment.

Which investment themes, products and strategies do you expect will resonate most with UHNW and HNW clients in 2026, and why?

Going into 2026, UHNW and HNW portfolios will require a tactical flexibility and quality selection in an environment where valuations offer no cushion and inflation risks loom large. Our recent 2026 Global Outlook report – An Impossible Trinity dives into further details on how one should navigate the expected volatility. Consensus assumes an unsustainable trinity of earnings strength, accommodative monetary policy and fiat debasement coexisting seamlessly. Simultaneously, deglobalization, fiscal stimulus and commodity demand could reignite primary risk of inflation revival forcing central banks to reverse course.

The “Magnificent 7” account for 22% of expected S&P 500 earnings growth in 2026, creating asymmetric risk due to heavy concentration. The key themes that we are advising our clients are:

As competition intensifies across private banks, EAMs, MFOs and digital wealth platforms, what are your top strategic priorities to future-proof your business and sustain growth over the next 12-18 months?

The competitive landscape is fragmenting between scale players and specialized boutiques and that creates opportunity. We’re competing on expertise, not on price or size. Private banks offer scale of capabilities but carry product conflicts and legacy constraints. EAMs provide independence but lack integrated scale and capabilities. Multi-family offices deliver bespoke service but struggle with economics beyond the ultra-wealthy. Digital platforms have technology but miss the sophistication families need. Each has specialized. We’re building something fundamentally different.

Our future-proofing strategy is the integrated investment institution we’re building. We’re combining institutional wealth management without conflicts, proprietary asset management across public and private markets, investment banking and capital advisory for complex transactions, technology infrastructure through one relationship, one platform, one aligned interest structure.

We’re looking to double our AUM over the next two years, and our strategic priorities center on execution against a clear framework, combining qualitative initiatives to drive quantitative outcomes.

Client experience comes first — remaining continuously client-obsessed throughout our institution, from product development through operations. Second is talent: attracting ambitious, growth-minded professionals who are lifelong learners. Third is product innovation: doubling down on alternatives where we have strength — credit, real estate, life sciences R&D — while maintaining independence through strategic third-party institutional partnerships. Fourth is technology: iterating on the client experience, leveraging AI to enhance productivity without losing high-touch relationships.

If we execute these qualitative metrics well, the quantitative outcomes follow: acquiring right clients, hiring right talent, building right products. That’s the discipline separating execution from ambition.
