Avnos, the company behind a novel hybrid direct air capture (HDAC) technology that can tackle atmospheric CO2 emissions while producing clean water, has released a 2026 market outlook, predicting strong demand for these systems in the months and years ahead.

According to the publication, the rising demand will be driven by the needs of AI data centers and different industries working on decarbonization.

Market analysis released in December 2025 indicates that by 2035, the power demand of U.S. data centers is expected to reach 106 GW, which is 36% higher than the demand forecasted in an April 2025 publication.

As leading stakeholders continue working on AI capacity expansions, studies warn that larger data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons of water per day, which translates to roughly 1.8 billion gallons a year, according to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute.

This reality creates pressure for AI data center developers and operators, who will be looking to integrate sustainable, energy- and resource-efficient solutions within their projects.

Avnos highlights that its HDAC technology can help address this situation, as its data-center-oriented design was engineered to provide low-temperature and low-energy operation, combining moisture-swing regeneration with atmospheric water extraction.

Its systems use low-grade waste heat to reduce the electrical demand of both data centers and the HDAC units, producing clean cooling water and redistributing heat across the infrastructure.

This innovation slashes the energy use by more than half when compared to heat-based DAC technology, and it improves the operational resilience through opportunistic electrical load utilization.

In a market where carbon removal demand surpasses supply, Avnos is confident its technology can answer the growing sustainability interest with high-quality, measurement-based carbon removal and high-purity CO2, paired with the valuable co-benefit of clean water production.

Avnos CEO Will Kain stated,

“With commercial-scale projects advancing and HDAC being proven in the field, Avnos is starting 2026 in a strong position to meet this demand. Hybrid DAC’s ability to cut energy loads, generate clean water, and produce high-purity CO2 makes it one of the most compelling technologies for customers planning the next generation of infrastructure.”
