The Cure have dropped a massive announcement that they will be performing four major summer shows next year – which includes one night at Edinburgh Summer Sessions.
The iconic rock band are set to take to the stage at the Royal Highland Showgrounds on Sunday, August 23 2026, which will mark their first Edinburgh gig since they played the Playhouse in 1992.
Formed in Sussex in the late 70s, The Cure is made up of current bandmates Robert Smith on vocals, Simon Gallup on bass, Roger O’Donnell on keyboards, Jason Cooper on drums, Perry Bamonte on guitar and keyboards, and Reeves Gabrels on guitar.
The Cure performed their first show in 1978, followed by nearly 1,800 concerts worldwide in the years since, as well as 14 studio albums, more than 40 singles and a collection of concert films, reports Manchester Evening News.
While the iconic band headlined Glasgow Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park on August 16, 2019, this will be their first gig in the capital in 33 years.
In addition to the Edinburgh gig at Wythenshawe Park, the band will also perform in Dublin, Belfast and Manchester between June and August next year.
Supporting The Cure will be Irish rock band Just Mustard and Slowdive, from Reading, England.
In addition to these four newly announced gigs, the rock band are set to perform at the Isle Of Wight Festival on June 18, 2026.
Tickets to The Cure at Edinburgh Summer Sessions will go on general sale on Friday 3 October.
