WORCESTER Warriors fullback Louis Brown said he had never had goosebumps like he did running out at Sixways for the side’s first home match in three years.
Not only did Brown start as the side played in a home match for the first time in 1091 days, but he was also the first home try scorer of the new Worcester Warriors era, touching down after being played in by Lloyd Williams.
The side led at the break but would ultimately go on to lose 19-33 against the reigning Premiership champions.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better start against Bath really,” he told Worcester News after the match.
“I think everyone in the group was quietly confident too, with how we’ve been training all pre-season.
“We have been training at a really good level with all the lads putting 100 percent in. I think we knew we were going to start quick and we definitely did do that.”

On the noise and atmosphere created at a packed out Sixways Stadium, he added: “It was really special. I have never had goosebumps like that, running out into a packed crowd.
“You can see how much it means to all the fans and then that first try with the place erupting, it was a really special feeling.
“The support has been absolutely incredible since the first day we walked in really. We’ve had some open sessions and with the amount of people who have turned up to them, you just knew it was going to be packed out and the fans would get right behind us.
“You can tell it’s a proper rugby place, Worcester, so it is good to give back and get rugby back in front of the fans.”

With two open pre-season matches under their belt now, Warriors have enjoyed a dominant display against fellow Champ Rugby side Ampthill, alongside a strong showing against reigning Premiership champions Bath.
He said: “I think we performed well against Ampthill last week. Tonight was probably a big step up against arguably Bath’s strongest team.
“But I think we massively stepped up as well. If we can perform like that into the Championship season then I’m sure we will be in a good place.”
