WORCESTER Warriors’ Matt Kvesic thought it was ‘wicked’ to see a packed out Sixways against Bath – a ground he didn’t think he would get the chance to ever play at again.
Kvesic started in Warriors’ 33-19 defeat against Premiership champions Bath – their first match back at Sixways in 1091 days.
Reflecting on the occasion, which featured a packed out Sixways, he told Worcester News: “Look, if you take the result away, it was a wicked night.
“You could see the buzz, the excitement. Obviously Bath brought a really good team down with them as well so it was very special to be back. I think it has been a long time coming, everyone was excited.
“The score line is a bit disappointing but there is lots to work on but I think we can be proud with how we played.”

Kvesic received the loudest cheer over the PA from the fans when his name was read out.
He added: “I’ll be honest, I didn’t hear it – I didn’t hear too much, but yeah, it’s lovely.
“It’s great being back. I didn’t think I would have the opportunity to come back and play so to have the opportunity with such a great group of lads, group of coaches as well – I think this is the start of a really, really positive season.”

Kvesic admitted he was frustrated with the result but still felt the side should be proud of the performance they put on.
“It was a brilliant test. They brought a pretty stacked team, some wicked players that have been away on international duty and stuff,” he said.
“I thought, particularly that first 40, 50 minutes, we showed up really, really well.
“I thought the bench came on and made a real impact. Their quality probably shone through a little bit.
“I’m not going to say the score line flatters Bath but we were in it for large parts of that game. A couple errors, an error from myself in midfield and a couple of pick-and-go tries, if you scrub them off then it’s a very different game.
“That’s why they won three trophies last year and obviously we are new.
“We’ve got a lot of learning to do but I think it was really positive – we have got a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks and we’re going to keep building.
“That is our baseline and we’re going to keep building from that.”
