I lugged around a Dyson upright vacuum for over a decade, refusing to pay the price to upgrade after a family member gave little college me her old Dyson vacuum. I finally switched over to Dyson’s newer stick vacuums earlier this year, and I didn’t realize how much I was missing. (Truly, it was out of fashion when I got it, so who knows how old that model truly was. But it still worked!)

The Dyson V15 Detect is our favorite Dyson vacuum. It’s got everything you want in a modern Dyson vacuum: two cleaner heads, a hair screw tool, impressive suction power, and up to 60 minutes of runtime. There’s the Fluffy Optic cleaner head, which has a green laser light to spot dust and debris on hard floors, and the Digital Motorbar cleaner head for rugs and carpets.
Right now, the Plus version is on sale, which just has a slightly different attachment set than the regular one. It’ll include a dusting brush over the combination tool, and otherwise still includes both cleaner heads, the hair screw tool, and a crevice tool.
You might spot some older models on sale for Prime Day (or even at your local Costco, which my mom’s friends are always asking me about), and those are good purchases for even cheaper. But if you want an on-sale Dyson that has more of the latest power and accessories, this is the one to get. I personally can’t live without the Fluffy Optic cleaner head, which you don’t find on older Dysons.
