Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers fans snap up first allocation of grand final tickets in 34 minutesAaron KirbyThe West AustralianWed, 21 January 2026 1:40PMCommentsCommentsEmail Aaron Kirby

A sea of orange will descend on Optus Stadium on Sunday with Perth Scorchers fans snapping up the first allocation of tickets to the Big Bash decider in 34 minutes on Wednesday.

Just hours after their beloved Scorchers sealed a record sixth home grand final and ninth decider appearance with victory over arch-rivals Sydney Sixers, tickets for BBL 15’s climax became the hottest item in town.

The West Australian understands Optus Stadium’s capacity for cricket has increased since the Scorchers last hosted a final, which means this match is on track to beat the club’s record home crowd of 53,886 from the BBL12 final stunner.

After going on sale to the general public at midday, tickets were exhausted in barely more than half an hour.

But there is still plenty of good news for any fans that missed their chance with a second batch set to be released on Saturday at 10am AWST after Perth’s opponent is decided in the Challenger final at the SCG on Friday night.

More than one million fans will have attended the Big Bash this season by Sunday’s finale.

Perth roared into the grand final on Tuesday night after holding the Sixers to just 99 runs while defending 9-147.

Kiwi import Finn Allen starred as he broke the record for most sixes in a Big Bash season on his way to a man-of-the-match 49 while rising star Mahli Beardman ripped through Sydney’s middle order.

The 20-year-old tyro hit speeds in excess of 144km/h as he claimed the pivotal scalps of Josh Philippe, Moises Henriques and megastar Steve Smith, who had threatened to take the game away from Perth as wickets tumbled around him.

Aside from the cricket, Aussie indie rockers The Jungle Giants will headline the entertainment with two sets – one pre-game, and another during the innings break.

Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager, Alistair Dobson, said the decider would be a historic event.

“The fact all available tickets for the final were sold within 34 minutes of going on sale is yet another indication of the enormous interest in the BBL this season,” he said.

“With three massive finals ahead of us, the stage is set for a historic finish to the KFC BBL|15 season.

“The occasion will be a fitting end to a memorable summer of Big Bash, which has seen record audiences and attendances witness a remarkable season of world-class cricket, close contests and memorable moments.”
