
As August winds down, here is a highlight of family-friendly activities taking place in the Charleston area during the week of Aug. 22-28, 2025.
Friday, Aug. 22
Join the Curator of Natural History Matthew Gibson for Fossil Fridays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Bunting Natural History Gallery lab at The Charleston Museum to learn about fossils or identify your fossil finds.
The new Mount Pleasant Makers Mart farmers market will be at Park West Recreation Complex from 3:30 – 7 p.m., with local produce, goods, live music, and handcrafted items.
Carnes Crossroads Fourth Friday Farmers Market will be 5-8 p.m. at Carnes Crossroads in Goose Creek with fresh produce, fairy hair, baked goods, and many local vendors.
Back to School Food Truck Friday will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Village Green at Point Hope off Clements Ferry Road with food trucks, live music, arts and crafts, local vendors.
Music on the Village Green at Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island will have live music from the Will Thompson Band from 6-9 p.m.
Moonlight Mixer will be 7 – 10 p.m. at Folly Beach Pier. Dance the night away with live music from the Dave Landeo Trio performing a variety of upbeat energetic covers and originals. Cost is $10 in advance; $15 at the event. Ages 4 and up.
Saturday, Aug. 23
Sunrise Yoga will be 7 – 8 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant Pier at Memorial Waterfront Park. Stretch your body, awaken your mind, and fuel your spirit in this uplifting, intention-setting yoga class. Cost is $10 in advance, $12 at the event.
Summerville Family YMCA Youth Tri: The 15th annual Summerville Family YMCA Youth Triathlon will have kids swim, bike and run, and will have two groups for ages 7-10 and 11-16 at The Ponds community, 101 Pottery Circle, Summerville.
The Charleston Farmers Market will be in Marion Square from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. with local produce, food vendors, live music, arts and crafts.
Summerville Farmers Market will be 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 215 Main St. in Summerville with produce, specialty items, and handcrafted goods.
Goose Creek Farmers & Artisan Market will be from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd. with local artisans, crafters, farmers, and businesses selling their goods and wares.
Back to School Bash: Charleston County Parks presents a family event with music, face painting, school supplies giveaway, balloon art, a climbing wall, and other community resources on Aug. 23, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Lincoln Regional Center, 714 Lincoln Road, McClellanville.
Fortnite Duos Tournament will be 1-4:30 p.m. at Reforged Gaming Lounge in North Charleston where teams of two can compete against other duos in gaming lounges all across the country. Open to all ages.
Charleston Battery vs Loudoun United FC: Watch Charleston take on this team from Virginia during a theme-night Back to School Match on Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m. at Patriots Point Stadium, Mount Pleasant. Tickets start at $20.
Movie night will be at Carnes Crossroads at 7 p.m. in Goose Creek.
Sunday, Aug. 24
Yoga at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens will be at 10:30 a.m. for Vinyasa Flow for all levels.
Sunday Brunch Farmers Market will be at the Pour House on James Island from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. with vendors, activities, food and music.
Summer Farmers Market Series will be held at Willie’s Roadside Market at Boone Hall Farms in Mount Pleasant from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with local produce and local vendors.
Girlology Something New About You will be from 2-4 p.m. at Shipyard Park in Mount Pleasant for girls ages 8-11 to help face puberty with greater confidence.
Monday, Aug. 25
Freshfields Village Farmers Market on Kiawah Island will be held from 3-7 p.m. with fresh produce, local food products and handmade crafts.
The Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew will be picking up litter from the beach from 6-7 p.m. at Front Beach, 1100 Ocean Boulevard.
Tuesday, Aug. 26
The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market will be from 3:30-7 p.m. at the farmers market pavilion on Coleman Boulevard.
Charleston RiverDogs will take on the Augusta GreenJackets at The Joe at 7:05 p.m.
The Second Annual “Light the Way For Hope” Luminary event on Overdose Awareness Day 2025 will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. at Unity Park in Moncks Corner. Hosted by WakeUp Carolina, the event honors and remembers loved ones impacted by overdose, as well as community training and awareness.
Wednesday, Aug. 27
The West Ashley Farmers Market will be held at Ackerman Park from 3-7 p.m. with local farmers, vendors, artists, and make your own flower bouquet.
Central Creek Farmers Market will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Central Creek Park in Goose Creek with fresh food, local artwork and goods, and live music.
Charleston RiverDogs will take on the Augusta GreenJackets at The Joe at 7:05 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28
North Charleston Farmers Market will be from 3-7 p.m. at the Park Circle Pavilion. The market offers fresh, locally grown produce, and features arts and crafts and specialty foods.
The Moncks Corner Farmers Market will be held every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. at Unity Park in Moncks Corner.
The Fall Acoustic Guitar Series will be at Waterfront Park on Daniel Island from 5-7 p.m.
East Bay Deli in West Ashley will have free face painting for Kids Night from 5-7 p.m. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal.
Charleston RiverDogs will take on the Augusta GreenJackets at The Joe at 7:05 p.m.
