
HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – FBI Birmingham conducted “court authorized law enforcement activity” in the Sawyer Trail subdivision of Ross Bridge in Hoover Friday morning, Nov. 14.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Alabama, the law enforcement activity was linked to five people who are indicted on drug trafficking charges.
The indictment alleges that from about Dec. 6, 2022, to about June 11, 2025, five people conspired to possess and distribute 50 or more grams of methamphetamine, as well as 500 grams or more of a mixture that contains cocaine.

Hankins and Brown are also facing charges of possessing firearms while involved in drug trafficking and being a felon possessing firearms.
Brown is accused of possessing a SOTA Arms multi-caliber rifle, as well as Springfield .40 caliber pistol in advancement of a drug trafficking crime. Hankins is accused of possessing a SCCY 9mm pistol in advancement of a drug trafficking crime.
Court documents say that Hankins and Brown have both been convicted on drug trafficking crimes before this current indictment.
Per court records, Hankins was convicted in 1995 on trafficking cocaine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. In 1997, he was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. In 2013, he was convicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride and heroin.
Court documents say Brown was convicted in 2014 on first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree robbery and distribution of heroin.
