A former AEW star and champion has once again been spotted training in the ring ahead of this year’s WWE Royal Rumble. The clip suggests the possibility that the talent in question, Saraya, could be on her way back to the sports entertainment juggernaut.
The Unproblematic Icon’s time in All Elite Wrestling came to an end last year towards the end of March. In interviews following on the heels of her departure from the Tony Khan-led promotion, Saraya clarified that she would love to jump on board for a WWE return if the company offered her the opportunity to do so. She hinted at returning to the squared circle in 2026, moreover, and some time earlier was seen training for her prospective comeback with indie star Vipress.
The Stamford-based promotion is only a day away from hosting its annual Royal Rumble event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this week. A recent report noted that Saraya could potentially make her WWE return at the show, sparking rumors of her appearance at the pay-per-view. Now, another clip of the former AEW Women’s World Champion resuming her training with Vipress is making the rounds on X/Twitter, adding more fuel to the speculations.
Whether Saraya will be performing in the Women’s Rumble match this Saturday remains to be seen.
Prior to her departure from All Elite Wrestling, Saraya worked closely with Harley Cameron, who was at the time one of the only remaining members of the Anti-Diva’s faction, The Outcasts. The latter, who is currently one-half of the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions alongside Willow Nightingale, recently responded to her former ally’s training video during an interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring. Harley noted that Saraya has been quiet about her immediate plans, albeit voicing excitement regarding her future.
“I literally messaged her, I was like, ‘B*tch, you’re back in the ring!’ She looks great too. She looks like she doesn’t skip a beat. I’m so excited. She’s close-lipped about what’s coming next but, I think that she, you know, obviously took some time away and everything and I know she’s been doing some great things outside of the wrestling world and been really busy, so, when I saw her in the ring, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m so excited for wherever she’s going to pop up.’ ” [H/T: Fightful]
