Derrick Harmon injury update: Steelers rookie appears to have avoided serious injury originally appeared on The Sporting News
We feared the worst when Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Derrick Harmon suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the preseason Week 3 game, but it appears that he might be OK.
Harmon was initially carted off the field following the injury and was clearly distraught as he made his exit, which led everyone to believe it was serious.
However, Harmon was spotted on the bench sitting with his teammates in the fourth quarter of the contest. According to Steelers sideline reporter Missi Matthews, Harmon was able to walk to the bench on his own, also.
“He’s out here now on the sideline, sitting on the bench in between Cam Heyward and TJ Watt. The Steelers’ locker room is on the opposite side of this sideline. He was able to walk out here in street clothes. So we’re gonna take that as a good update,” Matthews reported.
Chances are Harmon would not have been back on the sideline if he was dealing with something serious, let alone would he walk back out on on his own accord.
For now, it looks like a disaster has been averted. We’ll see if head coach Mike Tomlin offers a significant update following the game.
