Democrat Senator Hit with Brutal Real-Time Fact Check Over Illegal Alien Healthcare Claim [WATCH]

A renewed debate over healthcare coverage for illegal aliens erupted this week after former Senator Al Franken and Senator Jeanne Shaheen publicly denied that Democrats have pushed such policies, despite widely circulated video evidence from the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.

The discussion began when Franken questioned Vice President J.D. Vance’s recent remarks that Democrats support providing healthcare to illegal aliens.

In a post on X, Franken asked whether Vance was “woefully ignorant” or deliberately misleading when he said Democrats back taxpayer-funded healthcare for those in the country unlawfully.

Almost immediately, social media users pointed to the widely known 2020 Democratic primary debate when moderators asked the candidates whether their proposed healthcare plans would cover illegal aliens.

In a moment that has since been replayed frequently, every candidate on stage raised their hand.

The exchange, which drew applause from the audience, has repeatedly been cited as evidence that the Democratic Party supports extending healthcare benefits to those without legal status.

Even those considered moderates at the time signaled their support during the debate.

Candidates across the board affirmed they would not exclude illegal aliens from taxpayer-subsidized healthcare programs.

The clip has since become a reference point for Republicans when addressing the issue of entitlement programs and illegal immigration.

The controversy resurfaced when Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire appeared on Fox News and made a similar claim to Franken’s.

“I haven’t heard anyone in my party wanting to give illegals taxpayer-funded healthcare!” Shaheen said.

The network then aired the video from the 2020 debate in real time, showing every major Democratic candidate raising their hand when asked whether they supported extending healthcare coverage to illegal aliens.

The exchange highlighted a widening gap between Democratic rhetoric in interviews and the public record of what was promised during the last primary cycle.

While some Democratic officials have sought to downplay the issue or shift the conversation to broader healthcare reform, the footage continues to be circulated by critics who argue that party leaders cannot disavow what was explicitly endorsed on a national stage.

Vice President Vance has continued to emphasize that Democrats’ healthcare policies would place added costs on American taxpayers.

During discussions about government funding and immigration policy, he pointed out that two programs previously funded by the federal government — emergency healthcare for illegal aliens at hospitals and mass parole benefits — were halted under President Donald Trump’s administration.

The resurfacing of the 2020 debate clip has amplified questions about where Democrats currently stand on the issue.

While leaders like Shaheen and Franken deny the party’s support for extending healthcare to illegal aliens, the video remains a central piece of evidence that opponents cite as proof of their position.

The controversy comes at a time when healthcare costs, border security, and immigration remain major issues in national debates.

With public attention once again focused on Democrats’ past commitments, Republicans are expected to continue pressing the issue in upcoming policy discussions.

As of now, neither Franken nor Shaheen has responded directly to the 2020 debate footage that contradicts their recent claims.

The debate over healthcare for illegal aliens is likely to remain a prominent flashpoint as lawmakers clash over immigration and entitlement policy in Washington.
