Jaipur: The department of jails in Rajasthan has promoted seven women officers among 23 deputy jailors to the post of jailors for the year 2023-24. The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) promoted 21 officers after holding review examinations on Friday and Saturday, while two others received gallantry promotions last month. Jailors serve in district and central jails.Director General of Prisons Govind Gupta chaired the DPC with Jail Superintendent Headquarters Jaipur Pramod Singh as member and Superintendent Special Central Jail Shyalawas, Dausa, Paras Jangid as Member Secretary. The committee conducted written and outdoor examinations and interviews at the Rajasthan Police Academy before finalising the names.Jangid said promoted officers include Ashok Parik, Sushma Sen, Divya Chaudhary, Satendra, Priyanka Chaudhary, Heena, Suman Kumari, Kavita Bishnoi, Ranveer Singh, Hemant Bhardwaj, Dharmveer, Hemraj Vaishnav, Pawan Daukia, Tarachand Sharma, Mahesh Sharma, Tarseem Singh, Mohammad Arif Khan, Om Prakash Sharma, Beena Meena, Kaluram Meena, and Bhagwan Sahay Meena. The department gave gallantry promotions to Lokojjwal Singh and Sugar Singh last month. The department also claimed that it was for the first time that seven women officers together were promoted to the post of jailor.
