Islamabad: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has ordered that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan be produced before the court – either in person or through video link – during the upcoming hearing on May 9 and other related cases.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka issued the order while hearing several cases against Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, including those related to the May 9 riots.
During the proceedings, the court noted that the Adiala jail authorities had not responded to the show cause notice issued earlier.
By extending the interim bail of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi till November 25, the court postponed further hearings in these cases.
The former prime minister faces several charges, including those related to the May 9 incidents, an attempted murder case and allegations regarding fake receipts. Bushra Bibi is also accused in another case of allegedly submitting fake receipts.
The court’s directive paves the way for a crucial hearing next month, during which Imran Khan can appear physically or through a virtual link, depending on arrangements made by the prison administration.
Moreover, the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad stopped the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in five different cases, including the May 9 incident.
During the hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majuka extended the pre-arrest bail of the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi, till November 25. The court also ordered the PTI founder to appear at the next hearing either in person or via video link.
Lawyer Shamsa Kayani represented PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in court. The judge adjourned the proceedings on their bail applications until the next date.
The cases against the PTI founder include charges related to the May 9 riots, attempted murder and forged receipts. Bushra Bibi is also facing another case for allegedly submitting fake receipts.
Meanwhile, in the Toshakhana-2 case, the PTI founder’s lawyer requested additional time to present further arguments, which the court accepted, setting the continuation of the hearing for tomorrow.
